Why IPod Sound System Makes Sense for Smaller Parties

If you’re planning a party or wedding you’re probably looking to hire a PA speaker sound system. These days most people have an iPhone, iPod or a laptop / tablet, our ‘’iPod’’ speaker packages are designed to work with any device that has a headphone output i.e. all of the above plus any other brand of phone or tablet where you can plug in headphones. When you book a DJ you are relying on them having all the music you like & playing that music when you want it…. In theory this is what a good party DJ should be doing but it doesn’t always work out that way.

By hiring an iPod speaker system, you have full control over the music & this is what is most important at you party. Plus, you have save a lot of money as a DJ can cost anything from £200 to £500 for a night’s work! As we all know parties are already very expensive. Another key thing to remember is that when you hire the speakers yourself you have comfort that the music PA system is covered rather than worrying if your DJ will turn up on time.

We stock a range of speaker systems & can advise on what system is best suited to your event. Most of these PA packages fit into a car & can be setup within 5mins – Yep that quick! All hire equipment is tested before it goes out & we make sure the level of the equipment is of the highest standard possible. Most of the speaker systems are either made by EV or by RCF which are both highly regarded in the pro audio world for super audio quality. You don’t need to worry about cables, amps and complexed controllers. Our simple iPod speaker systems are completely plug & play and all the amps are built in into the speaker themselves saving you time & mess with cable everywhere and you are up & running ready to play music within 5mins max.

Top 10 questions regarding iPod sound system hire

  • We have lots of different speaker packages available for hire but to give you a rough idea a house party package with cost around £40 which will cover up to 70 guests, the next size up which comes with an added sub will cost around £70 and then for our larger iPod system your looking at about £90. You can see these three packages on this website but this isn’t all we stock…. We can supply sound equipment for any sized event, these are just three of most popular speaker systems we offer.

  • We are based in both London & Surrey putting our company in two great locations. For dry hire picks up (where you pick up from us) we ask our customers to collect from our Surrey outlet. We can delivery anywhere across London, Surrey & Hampshire. Please see question 10 for more info on delivery.

  • Unlike other hire companies we have designed these speaker systems to work with ANY phone, tablet or laptop with a headphone socket so unless your headphone socket is broken any of our sound systems will work with your device. If your using a DJ mixer or laptop interface, please let know beforehand along with the model number so we can give you the right cable.

  • The simple quick answer is yes…. Don’t mistake the term ‘’iPod’’ sound system for a small speaker system. These speaker systems are the same style & type of sound systems that you would get if you were to book a DJ or band. Your more than welcome to pop in to our warehouse beforehand & try each system out but we are more than confident your be blown away with any system we stock.

  • We have made these speaker systems so easy you just can’t get it wrong. If you can plug in a kettle you can setup one of these PA systems. There are NO external amps as each speaker has its own amplifier built into the speaker itself making it super easy to use. There are 2 cables in total one to each speaker = then done…. It couldn’t be easier. Don’t worry we show you everything working before you leave or before we leave after setting up so your have peace of mind everything is in fully working order.

  • We only accept BAC’s as a form of payment, all & any payment must be made before your event or hire. We don’t accept cash or credit card nor do we accept cheque. You will be asked to supply to forms of ID (please see our T&C’s) along with proof of address.

  • Yes, although this website aimed purely at iPod systems we do stock a huge range disco & event lighting fixtures. We stock everything from wireless LED uplighters to LED dancefloors to disco lighting and party lighting equipment. If you would like a quote for lighting, then please let us know & we can give you a full quote to include this within your hire.

  • Yes, you have two options when it comes to using a wired or wireless microphone with the sound system.

  • Surrey PA Hire don’t offer any insurance, our T&C’s clearly state that all equipment is your responsibility while on hire. When you send you a quote we will include a full and complete copy of our trading terms, please read this as this is your hire contract with us. If you would like to a copy before we send you a quote, please feel free to call or email and ask for a copy to be sent over to you.

  • Yes, we do offer delivery across Guildford, Kingston, Dorking & Weybridge, Heathrow, Camberley, Ascot etc … basically anywhere within a 25mile radius of Guildford. For London delivery’s we charge an extra £10 with is a fixed fee

Surrey PA Hire is not just your standard speaker hire company stock a large range of disco lighting fixtures along with some fantastic special effects from wireless LED uplighters to white starlit LED dancefloors & laser systems.

When it comes to lighting it’s great to have an idea of the style or feel you’re looking for. Whatever your looking to achieve we can supply & install the right lighting at the right cost. Below we will do our best to explain what different type of lighting we offer and what each fixture does.

Your standard disco lighting effect is a LED based ‘’flower’’ effect which is a genetic term used in the lighting world… The flower terms come from the fact that the beam of light is a wide & colourful like a flower petal (a basic terms) These lighting fixtures are perfect for parties where budgets are tight & your looking for great bang for buck. Typically, just two of these lighting effects will cover a house party or small marquee up to 50 guests.

Another very popular lighting effect is our ‘’B Eye’’ lighting fixture which is a real show stopper! These are a moving head style effect which again is a term used in the world of lighting and is used because the lighting fixture can pan & tilt around the room giving you a much larger coverage & the effects far exceed your normal disco light.

Maybe your after something a little less flashy & you’re after more of a subtle lighting effect….. Not a problem & how about we take away all the problems or wiring as well! Yep that’s right we hire out fully wireless LED uplighters or some people call them mood lights. These are small lights about the size of a kettle that sit on the floor next to the walls in your venue and up light the sides & celling. These are very popular for weddings as you don’t need any cables thus giving you a very fast setup time while also being ultra-tidy. Ohh and it doesn’t end there, these wireless LED uplighters can be controlled by your iPhone or iPad giving you full access to all the colours without moving from your table and without having to walk around to each light (your need to hire the FlareCon box & download the FlareCon app via the apple store)

Top 5 questions asked about lighting or dance floors

  • Yes, all of our disco lighting is sound activated and this is done by the means of using a small sensor built into the light which picks up on the beat of the music – You don’t need to worry about how it works as all of this magic is completely automated.

  • 90% of our disco lighting hire stock is what we call plug and play meaning you just plug it in and it works, very simple. Like we have said before most lighting is sound activated so you really don’t need to worry but if you’re into some of our higher end lighting fixtures (DMX controlled) we would also recommend speaking to us about booking a lighting tech as well as these types of lighting won’t do much without the right programing. Don’t worry if you start asking about these types of lighting fixtures we will let you know this well before you hire.

  • Our white LED starlit dance floors start from a small compact size of 10ft x 10ft which is really nice for smaller parties where your looking to impress…. You can then hire our dance floors in 2ft increments so 12ft, 14ft, 16ft, 18ft, 20ft, 22ft, 24ft! 24ft x 24ft is the largest dance floor we offer BUT this floor is HUGE and is aimed at much larger weddings / corporate events where you have 500+ guests. If you’re looking to go wider then deeper then we can build the floors an odd shape (rectangle) but please ask about this beforehand as this isn’t which we can just do on the day of the event without being told before.

  • The quick and short answer is we don’t NOT recommend drinks of any sort on our floors we can’t stop you having a dance on the floor with a drink but we must make you aware that these floors will become slippery if you start spilling drinks all over it. The dance floor is water resistant on the top but remember these floors are powered by the mains thus shouldn’t be getting wet. All the floors are cleaned before we leave the venue and left setup working, we ask that you don’t switch the floor off at any point once we leave as this can cause syncing problems with the panels (an issue all dance floors have) If the power was to go off the floor will still work but you may find that not all the LEDs are ‘’twinkling’’ at the same time.

  • Yes of course, in fact this is the cheapest way to book sound, lighting and a dance floor for your event as booking everything from one company also means you’ll get the best deal. We really do offer everything from the PA to lighting to dance floors, staging, lasers and drape systems. DJ booths and LED video packages are two of the newest things to hit our hire stock and all of this is available to see, test and demo at our new rental warehouse in the heart of Surrey.
